- 국내 대표적인 세계문화유산 등재의 성과의미를 고찰한 리뷰 5편 수록 등
- 국내외 전문가의 13편 원고 담은 특집호 발간
한국학중앙연구원(원장 안병우)이 한국학 분야 대표 영문학술지 『The Review of Korean Studies』의 2021년 12월호를 발간했다.
한국학중앙연구원은 국내외 한국학 연구성과 공유 및 교류 활성화를 위해 1998년 『The Review of Korean Studies』를 창간했으며, 연 2회(6월, 12월) 발간하고 있다.
연구논문을 다룬 <연구특집>·<일반논문>을 비롯하여 연구동향이나 특정 주제를 다룬 <리뷰특집>, 고전자료의 영문 역주를 소개하는 <한국학사료> 섹션을 통해 매호 10여 편의 다양한 학술자료를 발표해 오고 있다.
이번 호에는 그동안 영문으로 거의 소개된 적 없는 한국의 전통과 전근대 음악에 대한 최근 국내외 연구가 <연구특집>에 담겼으며, 국내 대표적인 유네스코 세계문화유산 등재의 성과의미가 <리뷰특집>에 담겨 특집호로 발간됐다.
이번 호 <연구특집>에서는 <한국의 음악: 대내외적 시각(Korean Music: Domestic and Foreign Perspectives)>이라는 주제 아래 국내외 학자 4명의 논문을 게재하여 조선의 궁중음악, 고악보, 그리고 가곡 장르와 근대 여성국극 등 여러 흥미로운 주제들을 살펴보았다.
이 특집 논문들은 조선 시대의 음악을 궁중음악, 민간음악, 그 외 장르를 다양한 시각에서 바라보며 종류별 음악의 기능과 역할, 주요 향유층에 대한 분석과 더불어 시대적 통찰력을 함께 제시하고 있다.
또한 음악적 전통이 근대에 끼친 영향력 부분도 연구되어 여전히 지속되고 있는 조선시대 한국 전통 음악의 흐름과 그 영향력을 설득력 있게 보여주고 있다.
한편, 이번 호 <리뷰특집>은 <유네스코 등재 세계문화유산(Korean Cultural Legacies, Recognized as Part of the World Cultural Heritage)>이라는 주제 아래 국내 문화재와 관련해 권위 있는 전문 학자 5명의 리뷰를 게재하였는데, 국내 대표적인 세계문화유산의 다양한 리뷰와 성과 검토, 향후 추진방향까지 제시하고 있어 눈길을 끈다.
ㅇ 이상해는 “Seowon, Korean Neo-Confucian Academies, Historic Villages of Korea: Hahoe and Yangdong, and Sansa, Buddhist Mountain Monasteries in Korea(한국의 서원, 양동 및 하회 마을, 산사 리뷰)” 를 통해 한국의 서원, 한국의 전통마을 및 한국의 산사가 지닌 가치 및 등재경위 등을 리뷰하였다.
ㅇ 조재모는 “Changdeokgung Palace Complex and the Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty(창덕궁과 조선왕릉 리뷰)” 를 통해 창덕궁과 조선 왕릉들의 가치 및 등재경위를 소개했다.
ㅇ 이현진은 “Jongmyo Shrine 宗廟(종묘 리뷰)” 을 통해 종묘의 내부구조와 가치 등을 리뷰했다.
ㅇ 노현균은 “A Fortress Made in Heaven(Namhansanseong of Gwangju) and the City of a King’s Dreams(Hwaseong Fortress of Suwon)(하늘이 만든 요새도시 광주 남한산성과 군왕의 꿈을 담은 이상도시 수원 화성)”를 통해 남한산성과 수원 화성의 역사적 가치를 분석했다.
ㅇ 신희권은 “Achievements and Significances of the World Heritage Inscription of the Gyeongju Historic Areas and Baekje Historic Areas(경주·백제 역사유적지구 세계유산 등재 성과와 의미)” 를 통해 경주유적지구와 백제유적지구의 가치 및 등재경위 등을 리뷰했다.
한국학중앙연구원은 앞으로도 중요하고 시의적인 주제들을 『The Review of Korean Studies』에 담아 다양한 시대와 소재를 다룬 우수 논문들을 게재하여 국내외 한국학 연구 발전에 기여할 예정이며, 특히 점점 소외되고 있는 전근대 한국학 연구를 지속적으로 해외에 소개함으로써 국내외에서 절실히 필요한 영문 학술 자료 공유에 노력할 것이라고 밝혔다.
